Are You Cherishing Today?

At any moment, change can shake our lives. The events that filled our lives are now canceled. The calendar that had us rushing around a few days ago is now empty. School, work, and social events are on hold. Life is sudden, and we can not count on what will come next.

But one thing I do know: the chaos we feel is not out of control. God has a plan for our lives, and He is holding tomorrow.

Knowing that He is in control, are you cherishing today? Is your hope in tomorrow or in eternity?

For a long time, I looked to the next exciting event in my life. I lived based on what tomorrow would bring. But the thrill of excitement always faded, and I found that Christ is the only One Who can fulfill that longing. Nothing that comes tomorrow is better than the hope we have in Him.

The spread of COVID19 has the world focusing on what will happen next. But what about now?

We have today to serve God with out whole heart, even at home under quartanine. Right now, we can have joy in the midst of chaos.

Let us cherish today with eyes set on eternity.

  1. Such a great reminder! One I needed. Thank you, Lindsey! This is indeed the day that the LORD has made: let us rejoice and be glad in it! (Psalm 118:24)

  2. It seems like so many people don’t have much to do during this time, but for me I have so much to do. What seems like a time to slow down and start good habits has not become reality to me. And that’s why I keep thinking to myself, allow change to happen now anyways. Find the time to spend with God. I need to force myself to slow down, and cherish each day, focus on just what each day needs and what I need out of each day.

    1. I am in the same place! Everything in the world has slowed down, but I have not had any free time! You are so right- whatever is going on in our lives, we can choose to slow down and cherish the day.
