Blogging Update and February Highlights

Before I share my February highlights, I have blogging update.

The past couple months have been one thing after another. My weeks have been filled with school, driving, and track practice. I have felt as if I have been doing a juggling act trying to balance everything.

Because of my schedule, I have not had a lot of time to devote to writing. When I do write, I usually end up staring at a blank screen. The long weeks have my mind clouded by many distractions.

Don’t worry, I am not taking a break from blogging! But right now, I have been taking longer to get my words on paper. I want to write what God has put on my heart, instead of trying to meet another deadline.

So, I may not post every week, but I will do my best as regularly as I can. At the very least, you will receive a notification in your inbox twice a month. Where else am I supposed to share all of the quotes and verses I read? 🙂 Also, my posts will be coming out on Mondays instead of Saturdays. I am thankful for all of my readers and I hope you stay tuned! Here are a few short highlights from February!

Finishing Drivers Ed– I have been waiting to write this one for a while! I had classroom instruction for two weeks in January and I finished in car instruction in February. I am excited to get my license!! Now you can expect a post on failure or a big highlight next month (hopefully the latter)!

Track– Last fall, I ran cross country. I actually missed running (not the five mile jog so much!) and was looking forward to start the track season. Training has been challenging but I am enjoying it!

Psalms– My church has been going through Psalms of satisfaction for the past month. All of the Psalms have come at perfect timing. I have been encouraged by the truths that true rest is found only in God, that only He can truly satisfy, and that knowing Him is better than anything.

And here are a few favorite quotes from February!

“If a commission by an earthly king is an honor, how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?” – David Livingstone

“One does not surrender a life in an instant. That which is lifelong can only be surrendered in a lifetime.” – Elizabeth Elliot

“Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” – Corrie Ten Boom

“True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.”- C.S. Lewis

Would love to hear in the comments if you have any highlights or quotes to share from February!

  1. February has me in much of the same thought process. Distracted!
But the Lord keeps reminding me that He is all I need. So distractions become more like looking for ways to serve and sow into the lives of others. And the quote by C.S. Lewis is perfect especially where my focus is right now.

    Love your post and honesty.

    1. For drivers ed, I would say take a lot of notes! I have a folder full of notes that I am using to study for my test.
For driving in general, I think the best thing you can do is to be confident in your driving and to stay calm. Driving in itself is simple as long as you are watchful for others on the road. Hope those help! 🙂

  2. Great quotes! The quote from Elisabeth Elliott reminds me of a statement she makes in Through Gates of Splendor in which she describes her husband’s decision to give his life in service to Jesus was not made the day he was murdered: it was made many years previous when he pointed his life that direction. Really good quote; I wish I had my book handy to find the exact words.

Oh, and fun fact: although the humility quote is attributed to C.S. Lewis, nobody (to my knowledge) can find where he said/wrote it. Which makes some people wonder if it was actually him or somebody else. Or just maybe, it was his way of staying humble? Make an awesome quote about humility and then make it impossible to track back to him :-D.

    1. I remember reading that in Gates of Splendor! That book is one of my favorites!!

That is strange that the quote can’t be found in any of his books! Yes, maybe that was his plan haha! 🙂
