To be honest, this week has been hard. From getting prepared for school at the beginning of the week to attending a funeral of a family friend just yesterday, I have had a roller coaster of emotions. And I found that I was focusing on myself.
Recently, I watched the movie I am not Ashamed. It was a powerful story and I don’t want to give anything away but I was encouraged by Rachel Scott’s faith. She was surrounded by people who were unsaved. She was left out for her faith. But amidst any of her own struggles, she reached out to those around her. She saw the needs of others and put aside herself.
Sometimes it is hard to look beyond what we are facing. But I find that the best way to go through hard times is to take the focus off of myself, and put it on others. That does not mean we have to put on a mask, but instead showing others the hope we have through trials. Looking beyond what we are dealing with and extending a hand to others. Ultimately, it means taking the focus off of ourselves and putting it on the Savior. It is not easy but it is fulfilling.
The world needs to know the truth. They need to know of a God who loves them. I encourage you to let your light shine-let others see the hope you have.
Well stated! It brings me back to focus. Thank you!

I also find it hard in to focus on others when things are going on in my life. It’s easier to complain and want everyone to, in a way, pity you. But, taking the focus off yourself and on to others helps make your problems smaller.
